June 10 - And so it begins

Our journey has begun! We hitched up using our walkie talkies (new addition since our practice week) to communicate, well that was what I was supposed to use anyway. But when it seemed as though the bed of the truck was going to pin me to the front of the RV I couldn't think to push the button to talk. I just started banging the clipboard on the bed and screamed "stop, stop". Crisis averted, Adam stopped in plenty of time and promptly let me know I need to push the button in to talk, so we will add that to our list of lessons learned. The rest of the hitching process went very smooth and we were on our way.

This will be the quickest and easiest leg of the whole journey. We traveled about an hour to North East, Maryland to our very first campsite...Walmart. This will also be our first and hopefully only experience dry camping without any hookups for electricity, water or sewer. When we first arrived we went to explore and pick up some necessities. The girls had fun enjoying all the amenities this "campsite" had to offer i.e. game room, running around aisles & the self checkout scanner :) They can entertain themselves anywhere.

When we got back to the RV it was very warm. And with no hook up the only thing we could do was open the windows, which didn't do all that much for any of us. It made for a hard time falling asleep but it was worth it to get a head start. The next morning we headed out early and were on our way to our first stop, Luray Caverns at 6:45am.
