June 12 (Day 2) - Gatlinburg, TN

We spent our whole day on Monday traveling from VA to TN. We stopped to get gas and hit a mild snag. Adam thought we would be able to pull straight out of the station onto the road, but that ended up not being the case. I went with walkie talkie in hand into the street ready to stop the traffic so Adam could back out of the gas station. Luckily no cars came that I needed to stop. Adam was able to get back on the road and off we went. At one of the gas stations I met a miniature pincher who belonged to a couple who was just returning from a cross country trip. They adopted the dog along their travels in Ohio and properly named him Buckeye. Buckeye jumped into my arms and let me pet and love him which helped my heart as I miss Tyson (even though I know he is in very good hands with my mom). We had fun taking some pictures at the rest stop in TN.

We arrived at Twin Creeks RV Resort around 3:45pm. The 338 mile ride took us around 7 hours but we made 5 stops along the way at gas stations and rest areas. When we got to our campground we had another back in site. Adam was able to get into this one as well without too much trouble.

We will be at this site in Gatlinburg for 3 nights. Our first night we went into the center of Gatlinburg. It reminded us of the boardwalks on the NJ beaches. We ate dinner at a Mexican Restaurant with some very silly décor.

We walked around a bit and came back for a swim. Adam thought this was central time zone. So we were thinking it was a little after 8 and would have time for a quick swim. And to Adam's defense when we googled time in Gatlinburg it told us an hour earlier too. When we got to the pool it was locked and there was a staff member working inside the gate. When Adam asked him why it was locked he said it was after 9pm (posted closing time of the pool) and this was not Central time. So we came back to the RV and the girls and I played a game of Spot It while Adam went to the market to stock us up for the first time this trip. We are looking forward to exploring the Smoky Mountains tomorrow.
