June 27 (Day 17) - Stopover in Silt, CO

Today was a travel day. We moved out of Colorado Springs with the most phenomenal memories in our heads and hearts. We had to drive straight through the Rocky Mountains to get to the KOA in Silt, Colorado. Knowing we would face an extremely intense elevation climb peaking out over 11,000, roads that curved around the mountain side and included very steep inclines and downgrades this was the most anxiety ridden route planned for our entire trip. We were very happy when this drive was behind us and breathed a sigh of relief when we arrived.

Our site at the campground backed up to a little creek. Luckily it wasn’t too difficult of a site to get into and we did not have to unhitch which would make tomorrow’s departure easier and faster.

It was plenty warm here and after our long, stressful drive we all headed straight for the pool once we were all hooked up.

While we were there we met a very nice family. They also had a 6 year old, Karlea and the girls became instant friends and they all had fun swimming, playing water games and occasionally coming over to the hot tub for a foot soak. Adam and I were really enjoying talking with her parents too. Time flew by and before we realized, it was 8pm and we hadn’t eaten dinner. We decided to all eat together and Jamie found a restaurant close by that would deliver (which we needed since we didn’t unhitch). When the food arrived we had about 15 minutes to eat together in the main building of the campground. They closed at 9pm and the woman begrudgingly kicked us out in the middle of our meal. We tried to move to the picnic tables under the covered pavilion. Within the first minute we were all swarmed by mosquitos and sadly had to say a quick farewell to our new friends. We took our dinner back to the RV to finish, showered and hit the sac
